iDishoom is an auditory mnemonic for a HARD HITTING PUNCH in Indian movies. i3D, in short denotes iDishoom’ ethos for investigative, inspirational and insightful Discoveries to deliver Citizen led HARD IMPACT UNAFRAID, UNCOMMON , and UNBIASED NEWS and VIEWS (yes even views posted by our readers are investigative, inspiring and insightful) in the era of PAID BIASED MEDIA.iDishoom now shall have wholesome original content on current affairs and social, cultural, political, economic happenings. iDishoom citizen reporters may also publish relevant curated content aggregated from other media websites, social media and news portals, with a courtesy credit to the original content publisher.(Read Symbolism of Logo)
Created and Launched on 15th August 2004, iDishoom is the first non-profit PUBLIC SERVICE media portal in the world, where all NEWS and VIEWS are led by 10s of thousand voluntary citizens. Founded by globally renowned rights based activist, social justice crusader, intrepid whistleblower and author of the Karma Kurry- the Hero in me Bestseller Book series, Jeroninio “Jerry” Almeida, iDishoom pioneered the movement for public service and advocacy media with a mission of promoting citizen reporting and whistle-blowing (Read Jerry’s editorial note and vision statement for iDishoom. iDishoom began this whistle-blowing and citizen reporting mission much before the emergence of WikiLeaks or any other Citizen Journalism initiative and had over 6 million subscribers within 2 years of RightingWrongs (and all this happened much before the advancement of social media). This encouraged us to take on many more exposes and with over 1800 of our citizen reporters and whistle-blowers (all volunteers; there are no paid journalists @ iDishoom), we at iDishoom filed several PILs (Public Interest Litigations) and RTI (Right to Information) applications to lead several exposes. Most of our citizen reporters write with their own names and bylines, while some who are under heavy threat also write with Pseudonyms (iDishoom assures strict confidentiality for all citizens who wish to remain incognito and we do not disclose iDs under any circumstances). Whistleblowers write secretly to Jeroninio Almeida who assures secrecy even if threatened with legal suits, defamation or any other kind of threats.(Wanna punch hard and Blow the whistle! Some of the exposes we initiated include the expose against rogue organisations like Sahara, IIPM, Amity University, Vedanta University land scam, Monsanto, Coca Cola, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilla land scam, Kingfisher Airlines fraud, Sharad Pawar & family’s irrigation scam. Besides exposes and whistle blowing iDishoom also featured true stories of Uncommon, Unsung, Unusual heroes who are RightingWrongs in our country and world. This led to the publishing of the bestseller book series Karma Kurry, which features some of these heroes’ stories. Karma Kurry signed the biggest book deal in the history of Indian Publishing. iDishoom also supported campaigns like 1 Billion Hungry and raised millions of Rupees as funds for critically ill citizens and deserving children who needed money for their education. In late 2013, iDishoom was hacked due to a hard hitting Discovery we had on Monsanto. We were threatened to block or delete the story by Monsanto, but we told them to take a walk. Our philosophy is that what goes up will never come down, because that is our promise to our citizens who post authenticated stories. Over the past 2 years, our reach has grown with over 12 million active subscribers and readers, even though we just had a landing page. This has strengthened our resolve to promote UNAFRAID, UNCOMMON and UNBIASED PUBLIC SERVICE MEDIA and we have strived hard to get iDishoom back up again in beta mode. So folks, we are BACK and here to stay. So all wrongdoers need to beware now, because once we put up our news and exposes’ (after our due diligence and authentication) your threats and coercion tactics will only strengthen our resolve for justice and RightingWrongs.
iDishoom in its earlier avatar was purely a citizen reporting and whistle blowing site and was the pioneer of activism’s changing face as reported by a national daily. In the current avatar, iDishoom (led by 3 young firebrand citizen reporters and editors) shall not only focus on exposes and real heroes who are RightingWrongs, but also have UNAFRAID, UNCOMMON and UNBIASED NEWS from around the world that focuses on the 3 CORE DIMENSIONS given below. In its new avatar our slogan is #RIGHTeveryWRONG. Besides our call to action to #RIGHTeveryWRONG we shall also segregate the news in 3 parts.
